How To Measure Guide

A complete guide on how to measure the dimensions of you curtains

This guide will assist you in taking the measurements. You are ordering a finished product, and we will calculate the corrugation. We just need to know the desired height and width of the finished product. If we have any uncertainty, we will contact you to confirm the measurements.

In most houses in Switzerland, you will find either rods (bars) or rails. Rails usually come in two sizes: Maxi and Mini.

Rails:

Height:

First, measure the exact height from the floor to the lowest point of the rail.

Kissing the floor

If you wish the curtains to be ”kissing”  the floor, we will calculate the needed height based on the height of the bar, the diameter of the bar and the diameter of the rings.

Gap

If you wish a larger gap to the floor, you should deduct 3mm plus the height of the gap.

Puddling

For puddling, you should add approximately
10 to 20 cm, depending on how much you
would like the curtain to puddle.

Rails:

Width:

For the width of the curtains, the first step is to consider the length of the rail. Then, measure the width of the window.
You certainly want to cover the window completely but don’t want the curtain to be wider than the length of the rail.

For windows of width 100cm or less, we suggest a single curtain. For windows larger than 100cm, it is common to order two curtains per window (one to the left and one to the right).  Eventually, the choice is yours.

More than 100cm wide
More than 100cm wide

If the window is split in two in the middle, then both curtains should be of the same width (symmetrical). If the windows are not symmetrical, you might consider ordering two curtains of different width.

Types of rails

In Switzerland, most rails are of the type “maxi”, some thinner rails are of the type “mini”. Please indicate the size of your rails in your order.

Bars/Rods:

Height:

Firstly, measure the exact height from the floor to the lowest part
of the bar. Secondly, measure The diameter of the rod and the diameter of the rings

Most of our curtains can be ordered to be hung with rings, with grommets or a covering the bar. Just indicate your selection and
we will do the maths !

Kissing the floor

If you wish the curtains to be “kissing"  the floor, you should deduct 3mm of the full height. The reason is that we will have a small gap of 2mm at the top such that the curtain can run smoothly without scrubbing the ceiling and we will leave just 1mm of space between the floor and the floor.

Gap

If you wish a higher gap on the floor, we will calculate the necessary height based on the height of the bar, the diameter of the bar and the diameter of the rings. Kindly indicate how high the gap should be.

Puddling

For puddling, you should add approximately 10 to 20 cm, depending on how much you would like the curtain to puddle. We will calculate the final height based on the height of the bar, the diameter of the bar and the diameter of the rings. Kindly indicate how much puddle you would like.
